What is a Therapeutic Intensive?
Inspired by the work of John F. Barnes, PT,
MFR Therapy
Group
offers customized programs of multiple treatment sessions in a brief
period, and multiple therapists in a single session. The format is similar to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. However, treatment is provided in a
relaxing, private, and more cost-effective outpatient clinic setting.
Clients receive 3-4 treatment sessions per day, five days a week, with
a team of therapists. Some of the sessions are with multiple
therapists. Out of town clients can stay at local hotel or
bed-and-breakfast establishments, visit Lodi’s beautiful downtown
area, and enjoy wine-tasting at the area’s many award-winning
wineries. In short, it is a therapeutic vacation!
Why do an Intensive--how does it work?
Progress is accelerated via the intensified
healing process and decreased re-accommodation.
A major factor in chronic dysfunction is ongoing
accommodation to previous pathology with inefficient structural
alignment and movement patterns. The intensified treatment schedule
undermines the tendency to return to obsolete habit-patterns, and facilitates normal function
of the various integrated systems of the body-mind complex, thus
accelerating clinical progress.
Multiple therapists can support the client in
significant three-dimensional physical positions, creating an
unusually safe environment where the client can allow profound releases to
occur--which might not otherwise occur in a timely manner, or at all.
The result is that measurable changes can be achieved
relatively quickly - saving time, money and heartache.
Program Details
Treatment hours are generally between 9-5, Monday
through Friday. Typically there are one or two sessions in the
morning, and one or two sessions in the afternoon. Treatment
sessions are usually one hour each. Of course, the exact
schedule is determined by the needs of the individual client and by
therapist availability. Time for daily study, journaling,
therapeutic “exercises“, and rest periods is included.
Completed health insurance claim forms and receipts
can be provided for clients claiming reimbursement from their health
insurance. Clinical documentation is provided upon request.
Health insurance plan eligibility, coverage, or pre-authorizations are
the responsibility of the individual client.
Intensives must be scheduled at least 45 days in
advance. A deposit is required to schedule (refundable up to
2-weeks prior to intensive). The balance is due in full prior to
the beginning of the Intensive.
Recommendations to the Client
